What is thermal insulation?
By thermal insulation we mean the protection of a building or some of its surfaces, thanks to the minimization of heat exchange between the indoor and outdoor environment. This is achieved by lining the exterior of the building with thermal insulation sheets or other types of thermal insulation materials. Such materials are extruded and expanded polystyrene (styrofoam), stone wool, fiberglass, ceramic wool, etc.
In general, thermal insulation materials are light in that they have a trapped air mass in their mass. Exterior & interior insulation systems are applied in both existing and newly built buildings (roof, wall and basement insulation). The result of this process is on the one hand the reduction of the heating and cooling costs of the house and on the other hand the thermal comfort of the people living in it.
